Summary
CW Aakster & M van der Laan     MEDIRIS
The Mediris-computerprogram for complementary medical practice.

In order to promote professionalism, doctors and therapists in this sector are increasingly expected also to professionalize their handling of primary treatment data. This requirement could well be served by the computerprogram Mediris. The article describes the manifold applications of the program within individual patient care. A basic principle is the problem solving cycle with which the ongoing treatment process is being recorded. The program contains build-in facilities for statistical overviews and analyses. Besides it can be used for the making of new appointments, for the automated recognition of supply-shortages, for bookkeeping etc. The basic principle is: once recorded permits multiple usage. Other leading principles behind the program are: the possibility to integrate with regular medical practice, to perform scientific investigations, to switch easily from the one (complementary) therapy to the other etc. Mediris is marketed by RegisSoft, Haule-Holland and is also available in an English and German edition.
